Description

Friends!

On 31.07 at 19:00, I invite everyone to the opening of the exhibition of the project 'Museum of Unforgotten Things' at the bookshop 'Lav i Zhabats'!

The Museum of Unforgotten Things preserves and conveys the stories of people who were forced to emigrate from Russia through the objects they took with them, which hold precious memories of the past.

The first exhibition of the project features 16 stories of emigrants who moved to Serbia. Among the participants' belongings are souvenirs, books, tableware, interior items, and even live plants. Photographs of these objects displayed together resemble a wall of family pictures, where each fragment is a part of the collective history.

The author's embroidery by Galia Smorodina became the unifying element of the exhibition. Galia created embroideries over five photographs specifically for the project, symbolically connecting the past and the present. The embroidery acts as a connecting thread between the objects and people's stories.

About the Authors

  • Ulyana Dolmatova — exhibition curator, museologist, author of the project 'Museum of Unforgotten Things', and the Telegram channel 'Me in the Museum'.
  • Galia Smorodina — moved to Serbia almost three years ago, creator of the project 'Henny Penny from the Alley'. This project is about contemporary embroidery, timely support, expat conversations, and cozy girls' get-togethers. Galia practices satin stitch embroidery, utilizes textile applique technique, experiments with material blending (fabric, threads, acrylic, oil pastel).
