On Friday, 21 August, the Savant studio theatre opened its new season with the premiere of “BIM BOM” on the stage of Akademija 28. Our photographer was there to capture the atmosphere of the event and the emotions of the evening.
A story hidden behind the makeup
The production is based on a play by Alexander Lakman — a piercing tragicomedy about two old clowns. All their lives they walked out on stage and gave people pure joy, hiding their exhaustion behind greasepaint and smiles. The play is about time, about love, and about the fragile bond that remains between them once the years under the spotlights are over.
Actors Yulia Graut and Maxim Graut captured that delicate line, drawing the audience into empathy, laughter and sadness alongside the characters. Choreography by Polina Kolonitskaya gave the production an extra layer of drama: every movement, every gesture spoke about time and the fragility of human connection louder than any words.
A warm aftertaste and debates in the hall
According to director Ivan Kalashnikov, “BIM BOM” is a play where you can both laugh and cry. The story turned out to be domestic and naive, and that is exactly why it resonated with so many people.
After the show, the audience kept discussing the plot and building theories. Some suggested that everything was unfolding inside Bom's head; others argued heatedly: “But does the son actually exist?” For the creative team, those lively debates were the best proof that the story had truly touched the audience. The main aftertaste stayed warm for everyone — because above all, this is a story about love!
Plans for September: the opening of the Sklad space
Director Ivan Kalashnikov shared great news with us: audiences can look forward to new productions in the workshop, as well as repeat performances of the best shows from the repertoire of two studios — “I Vam” and “Igrayut”.
And most importantly, they will be staged at a completely new venue! In early September, the new cultural space Sklad opens its doors, promising to become an important point on the map of Russian-speaking Belgrade.
