Description

Friends!

On 31.07. at 19:00 I invite everyone to the opening of the exhibition of the 'Museum of Forgotten Things' project at the bookstore 'Lav and Zhabats'!

The Museum of Forgotten Things preserves and passes on the stories of people who were forced to emigrate from Russia through the objects they took with them, which hold valuable memories of the past.

The first exhibition of the project presents 16 stories of emigrants who moved to Serbia. Among the participants' items are souvenirs, books, tableware, interior items, and even live plants. The photos of these objects, displayed together, resemble a wall with family photos, where each fragment is a part of the shared history.

The unifying element of the exhibition is the author's embroidery by Galia Smorodina. Galia specially created embroideries over five photos for the project, symbolically connecting the past and the present. The embroidery here acts as a connecting thread between the objects and people's stories.

About the Authors

  • Ulyana Dolmatova — exhibition curator, museologist, author of the 'Museum of Forgotten Things' project and the Telegram channel 'I Am in the Museum'.
  • Galia Smorodina — moved to Serbia almost three years ago, creator of the project 'Hen from the Lane'. This project is about modern embroidery, timely support, expat conversations, and cozy girl talks. Galia embroiders with smoothness, uses the textile application technique (textile collage), experiments with mixing materials (fabric, threads, acrylic, oil pastel).
