Description

Friends!

On 31.07. at 19:00 I invite everyone to the opening of the exhibition of the project 'Museum of Unforgotten Things' at the bookshop 'Lav i Zhabats'!

The Museum of Unforgotten Things preserves and conveys the stories of people who were forced to emigrate from Russia through the objects they took with them, which hold valuable memories of the past.

The first exhibition of the project features 16 stories of immigrants who moved to Serbia. Among the participants' belongings are souvenirs, books, tableware, interior items, and even living plants. The photographs of these objects placed together resemble a wall with family pictures, where each fragment is part of a shared history.

The unifying element of the exhibition is the author's embroidery by Galia Smorodinaya. Galia created embroideries over five photographs specifically for the project, symbolically connecting the past and present. The embroidery here acts as a connecting thread between the objects and people's stories.

About the Authors

  • Yuliana Dolmatova - exhibition curator, museologist, author of the 'Museum of Unforgotten Things' project and the Telegram channel 'I in the Museum'.
  • Galia Smorodina - moved to Serbia almost three years ago, creator of the 'Chicken from the Alley' project. This project is about contemporary embroidery, timely support, expat conversations, and cozy girls' gatherings. Galia does smooth embroidery, uses textile applique technique (textile collage), and experiments with mixing materials (fabric, threads, acrylic, oil pastel).
