Coca Cola Cinema Film Program of Zemunfesta
Description
Event description
Coca Cola Cinema film program of Zemunfesta
17 August 2025.
As part of the festival's non-competitive film program, the Coca Cola Cinema on the main square offers the best film lineup yet. After the opening ceremony and the screening of Restitution, or, the Dream and Reality of the Old Guard the program continues with several notable works from this year. From the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the most glamorous, well-known and esteemed festival in the world, we bring you several selections.
Cinema audiences will have the opportunity to see, among others, the festival winner, a new masterpiece by the multi-award-winning Belgian authors, the Darden brothers, Young Mothers. This humanist drama by the Darden brothers, for which they won the award for Best Screenplay for the second time, tells the story of five mothers who live in a shelter and struggle for a better future for their children.
Since its inception the Cannes festival has been a place where renowned creators premiere their works, and over time it has become an important stop for films that go on to play a key role in the awards season, including the Golden Globes and the Oscars. On the third day of the festival the film Two Prosecutors by Sergej Loznica will be screened, a film that was nominated for the Palme d'Or this year, while at Palić film fest it won the Golden Tower for Best Film, and the director himself was honored with the "Aleksandar Lifka" recognition for his contribution to European cinematography. The film's plot is set in 1937 in the Soviet Union, during the Stalinist purges, and follows a young prosecutor whose search for justice takes him all the way to the top — to the office of the state prosecutor in Moscow — and into the conspiracies of the NKVD.
Also among this year's laureates on the Zemunfesta program is the second film by director Maša Šilinski, The Sound of the Fall (which shared the jury prize with the drama Sirat Olivijea Laksea). This dramatic historical film is an ambitious saga spanning a century and follows the fate of four young women — teenagers from the 1920s, 1940s, 1980s and today — who at different times live on the same farm. The visually masterful film presents reflections on the past and tangled family relationships that are at once mysterious and poetic.
This year's Zemunfest will close with the premiere of Who Will Knock on the Door of My Home by Maja Novaković. Set in the harsh but beautiful landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the film reveals the inner world of its protagonist through patient observation of nature. It follows an older man living in isolation, weaving a tapestry of dreamlike visual sequences as it records the routine of his daily life. This is her first feature film, which won this year's Grand Prix Šefild DocFesta, qualifying it for an Oscar nomination.
As in previous years, admission to all screenings is free. We remind visitors that seating is unreserved, so we advise arriving a little earlier for screenings.
All screenings start at 8:30 PM, except the opening film, which starts at 8:00 PM.
