Photo Exhibition 'Butterflies'
Description
From May 19 to June 7, the photo exhibition 'Butterflies' will be held in the foyer of the Cultural Center
The exhibition features photographs of butterflies taken by Vasa Pavkovic, Gordana Basta and Zoran Gavrilovic. At the opening, Vasa Pavkovic will speak about diurnal butterflies, and Zoran Gavrilovic about nocturnal butterflies of Serbia. The exhibition's goal is to raise awareness of the butterfly population in our country, as well as of wildlife in general, through artistic photography and lectures.
Diurnal and nocturnal butterflies belong to a large family of insects, the most numerous group of animals on the planet. Unlike most insects, which people usually fear and avoid, butterflies—especially diurnal ones—are very popular. This is mainly due to the patterns on their wings, their beautiful colors and shapes. In addition, butterflies are very beneficial for nature and people—after bees, they are the most important pollinators of flowering plants. Thanks to them, plants are renewed year after year and spread across the Earth in suitable soils.
