How to Hear Jazz and Express Music Through Dance

Jazz can be listened to, or felt with the whole body

We invite you to a session where we'll learn to listen to jazz more attentively, understand its structure, and look for our own way to express the music through movement.

Together with Елизавета Тараскова, a professional musician with an academic background who studies jazz and practices swing dance, we'll talk about how jazz music is put together and how to learn to hear more in it.

We'll cover how to find the eighth note, the typical forms most swing compositions follow, how rhythm differs from tempo, and how groove can vary. We'll also talk about what to expect from musicians at parties with live music and how to express everything you hear through movement.

The lecture will be held in English.
