Description

On 5 November the Yugoslav Film Archive will screen the short film by Andrey Krechetov “Popcorn”

Andrey Krechetov may be familiar from the films “Ears of Belgrade” and “Wind of Change.” In January 2025 he walked 80 km from Belgrade to Novi Sad with students and made a documentary about it, “2 Days in Serbia.” The protests stayed with him, and he decided to tell a fictional story. The idea was supported by producer Inga Danilevich, and the film was shot by a Serbian–Russian team. This spring the film was in the short film competition at the 48th Moscow International Film Festival, and now it returns to the place where it was filmed.

Milan sells popcorn and throws his son out of the house for attending student protests. Later the son really disappears somewhere in protest‑stricken Belgrade, and the father goes searching for him. Along the way there are strange encounters, and after them Milan begins to see his whole life differently.
