Concert on the Wall: Smeterling
Description
Belgrade Youth Center Concerts
Concerts planned at the Belgrade Youth Center during August 2025 at the Milan Mladenović Plateau (Monday Blues and Concerts on the Wall series) have been postponed. Information about the new dates for the previously announced concerts will be announced in due time. We thank the audience for their understanding.
Goth-pop / new wave band Šmeterling
Šmeterling was formed in 2023 in Belgrade, as a response to songs that could not find a place in any existing project. The idea was to create something outside genre boundaries, yet deeply rooted in alternative aesthetics. Šmeterling's sound is a neoromantic blend of melancholy, literary darkness, and emotional cynicism.
They draw inspiration from the works of:
- Oscar Wilde
- Laza Kostić
- Edgar Allan Poe
- Bukowski
Thematically, the songs shed light on love relationships, suffering, bitterness, and irony, through a "happy sad" sensibility similar to bands like The Smiths and The Cure.
The band lineup consists of
- Stanko Milosavljević – bass guitar, vocals, main lyricist and composer, band founder
- Elio Rigonat – guitar, assistant composer and arranger
- Dušan Drakula – keyboards, sound engineering
The production is signed by the collective composed of Dušan Drakula and Igor Lončar.
They have released:
- EP “Wrong Love Stories” (2023)
- Singles:
- “View from the Terrace” (2023)
- “Picture” (2024)
- “Death of the Folk Singer” (2025)
They are preparing a new EP titled “Poet, Philosopher... Failure”.
Past performances
Šmeterling has previously performed at:
- Dorćol Platz (Belgrade)
- Club Svitac (Jagodina)
- AKC Fuzz (Niš)
- Club KB (Požarevac)
- Zappa Baza, where they shared the stage with Goatmare & The Hellspades and the Russian band Ploho

The name Šmeterling symbolizes contrast – beauty and brutality in one. Butterfly (German: Schmetterling) as a symbol of the soul, the sharpness of a butterfly knife, and vampiric folklore in Serbian tradition, carries the meaning of fragility and danger simultaneously – just like love.
Šmeterling wants the audience to feel what they themselves feel – pain, sorrow, understanding, and honesty. If you feel hurt while listening, you are not alone.
Concerts on the Wall
Concerts on the Wall, organized by the Belgrade Youth Center since 2013 at the Milan Mladenović Plateau, have become one of the favorite summer cultural programs for all Belgraders and guests of our capital city. In the thirteenth season, we continue to discover new bands and present some old musical acquaintances.
