"I look like a country girl in it" — I'll name that tune in three notes
Of course, we're talking about a floral dress — not just any floral dress.
Most likely:
- a feminine cut;
- a small floral motif;
- a low-contrast print;
- on a white / light / beige background;
- with frills, flounces, and lace.
Often you genuinely want to pair such a dress with something along the lines of a peasant, cottagecore, or garden aesthetic outfit — and that can clash with your sense of self and even your way of life.
Yet you like the dress in theory. Or you like the idea of the floral print. So what do you do?
Maybe you need a different summer dress
With little ducks or dinosaurs. Black. Minimalist. Fractal.
But it feels to you like summer and florals are an unbreakable pair.
P.S. There is a HUGE number of floral prints
And of course, let's not forget that floral prints can be very different:
- with stems and without;
- of varying "intensity";
- of different motif sizes;
- with different spacing between elements;
- on different background colors;
- of varying degrees of abstraction in the drawing;
- of different dress cuts;
- made of different fabrics;
- with different convexity and concavity — that is, texture, and so on and so forth.
These are exactly the nuances we study at the School in the lesson on color. That is, not just color literally, but also decorative techniques — they are inseparable from the shades.
