Description

Limenka Teatar Fest 2025

International Theatre Festival for Children, characterized by a blend of theater and ecology, recycling and socializing, will be held in Kruševac from September 3 to 7, 2025.

Tickets for festival performances are not bought with money. It is necessary to bring at least five used drink cans that will be sent for recycling.

Festival Program

During the five festival days, ten performances from seven countries will be on the repertoire:

  • Montenegro
  • Croatia
  • North Macedonia
  • Hungary
  • Bulgaria
  • Slovakia
  • Serbia

The show selectors are Slobodan Jovanović and actress and director Valentina Pavličić, artistic director of the Limenka Theater Fest.

The mission of this festival is to be held in a different city every year and support the efforts of the local community for children and their parents to learn more about recycling and environmental protection.

Artistic Director Statements

Valentina Pavličić spoke about this year's festival edition:

“Each hosting city of the Limenka Teatar Fest brings its own color and rhythm - and Kruševac is ready to shine! Already on September 3, over 400 children and participants of the procession will uplift the city and symbolically start the search for discarded drink cans. Over six days, we expect ten carefully designed programs and performances from seven countries, aiming to inspire children and their families to play, think, and recycle. We believe that Kruševac will mark one of the most beautiful beginnings of September with a festival that celebrates art and sustainability. We look forward to it!”

Performances

  • "The Ugly Duckling" by the Kruševac Theatre brings a puppet adaptation of the famous Anderson's fairy tale.
  • "The Rabbit and the Dog" by the "Pinocchio" Puppet Theatre tells the story of how friendship and a lesson are born from a race.
  • In the Macedonian show "The Bremen Town Musicians", we follow the famous tale of the Bremen Town Musicians - exiled animals looking for a new home.
  • In the Montenegrin performance "The Fairy Mountain", we watch the Dragon who has taken over the village and the Spirit who will overthrow him.
  • The National Theatre in Priština, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts of the University and the Cultural Center "Gračanica", will perform "Cinderella", which returns us to basic values - faith and love.
  • "Nature Guardians" by the Kraljevo Theatre tells the story of good fairies fighting to preserve the last tree on the planet.
  • The performance "Plimplim" from Hungary depicts how objects around us hide rhythms and melodies that create a magical world.
  • In the Slovak show "Chaplin", the titular main character will take us through the streets of ancient Košice with live music.
  • The Bulgarian show "Samurai's Daughter" is an educational performance for children and adults through the lens of Japanese culture.
  • "Four Wonderful Mishaps" from Croatia presents four stories of strange and wonderful heroes, where actors and puppets share the stage together.

Tickets

Tickets for festival performances cannot be bought with money. To watch a performance, it is necessary to bring at least five used drink cans that will be sent for recycling.

In exchange for the brought aluminum packaging, one receives an ALU COIN, the world's first ecological currency, made of aluminum, used to buy a ticket.

Children and their parents who bring more used drink cans will receive additional alu-coins, which they can use at the LIMENKA BAZAAR, where a wide range of school supplies awaits them.
