One of the most exciting voices of the new generation, MICHAEL MAYO, is coming to Musicology Sessions on April 28th 🔥

An artist of the contemporary neo-soul and jazz scene, whose expression pushes the boundaries of traditional understanding of voice and improvisation, was born in Los Angeles in 1992 to a family of professional musicians with roots in jazz, R&B, and gospel traditions. It is precisely this rich heritage in his youth that shaped his unique approach to music, using his voice not only as an instrument, but as a complete palette of tones, colors, and emotions.

His debut album, Bones (2021), received wide critical acclaim for its originality, layered vocal harmonies, and emotional depth, while his next album, Fly (2024), further confirmed his status as one of the most exciting new voices of jazz-inspired expression. As part of the Fly project, Mayo explores improvisation, instinct, and creative freedom through innovative vocal techniques, beatboxing, layering, and harmonies that transcend genre boundaries.
