🦑Mikhail Berezhnoy: In Search of the Limits of Life
Description
🦑Mikhail Berezhnoy: In Search of the Limits of Life
What do acid lakes, volcanic wastelands, tropical forests, deserts and Antarctica have in common? Life exists in all of these places.
Over the past year zoologist and traveler Mikhail Berezhnoy has explored a wide range of Old World ecosystems: from high mountains and jungles to coral reefs and volcanic landscapes. He has spent nights in Indian villages inside a tiger reserve, witnessed the mass emergence of bats from caves, swam with tiger sharks, searched for crocodiles and leopards, encountered some of Asia’s most dangerous snakes, and studied animals in places that seem uninhabitable.
On 18 June we will talk about how living organisms adapt to the most incredible conditions. Why do some species thrive among volcanoes and acid lakes, others in deserts and tropical forests, and still others manage to master the icy edge of the Earth? This will be a talk about searching the boundaries of what is possible through the eyes of a zoologist, traveler and a person trying to understand how remarkable life on our planet can be.
