Myxomycetes: Life Beyond Familiar Boundaries

Lecture "Myxomycetes: Life Beyond Familiar Boundaries"

The world is full of amazing creatures, and sometimes we don't even realize that a whole unexplored universe is hiding right next to us.

In this lecture we'll talk about unusual beings you can find beneath the rustling autumn leaves — myxomycetes. They seem to have escaped from a secret laboratory, arrived from outer space, or stepped straight out of horror movie screens. What secrets do these clumps of intelligent slime hide?

We'll also find out:

• 🫧 Is intelligence possible without a brain?
• 🫧 Can an amoeba navigate a maze?
• 🫧 Japanese engineers vs slime mold: whose railroad blueprint is better?
