Modernism and Everything, Everything, Everything
Description
Modernism and Everything, Everything, Everything
Art broke down back at the end of the 19th century. Artists, poets and writers made their works complex and incomprehensible and for more than a century an artistic statement has provoked either nervous laughter or insults. The point is that art followed the increasing complexity of human life and demanded active participation from the viewer in the creative process.
How can we understand Dadaism and post-realism? How did industry influence the emotions? How does belief in God connect with post-industrial philosophy? On Sunday, June 7, we'll talk about this! This will not be a lecture with ready-made answers, but a seminar with active involvement from all participants. Together we will try to learn to understand and appreciate that very "incomprehensible" art.
The seminar leader is Sergey Petrov, philologist, literary scholar and journalist. He has worked as a teacher, television cameraman, and documentary filmmaker.
