Description
The new orchestration of "The Pagliacci" was not created simply as an adaptation of Leoncavallo's score for a smaller ensemble. It is part of the production's dramaturgy.
The orchestrator and conductor Aleksandar Gutić @syndryxx builds a new sound world for accordion (@alex_rose73), guitar (@ognjengrcak), wind quintet and clarinet (@brassolini_), violin (@bulatkiki), and percussion (@katalinaa_e).
The orchestra's position is not fixed. The musicians exist in the same space as the performers and the audience, moving through the venue and becoming part of the action. This also changes one of the fundamental conventional relationships in opera: the music no longer comes from a separate space, but rather arises right alongside the event it accompanies.
The performance features soloists Olivera Gočanin @oliveragocanin, Marko Živković @marque_zilion, Aleksa Vasić @aleksa.vasic, Marko Kostić @marko.tenor, and Tamaš Kiš @kish.tamas, with a small choir.
