Synopsis

A play about our reality, based on a true event
What happens when a young person finds themselves, because of poor financial circumstances, bullied and rejected by their peers? How do they fight and cope with it, how do the parents react, and how does the system respond? Why are perpetrators always protected?
The play “This Is Not a Fairytale” addresses the problem of peer violence that occurs when a new female student at school fails to fit into the new environment because of her darker skin and poor financial situation. However, Tara is not the only one who experiences violence firsthand; there is also Mita who wants to help her, and the bullies… Everyone forms a vicious circle in which each of them goes through violence that they then pass on to someone weaker than themselves.
This story, more relevant than ever and based on a true event, has been Studio Centar’s most-watched production over the past three seasons.
