A cow has escaped from a slaughterhouse. For days it wanders the city, and the city has no idea what to do: TV whips up panic, students protest, neighbors spread disinformation, the minister insists there is no cow. A scientist who left the country twelve years ago returns to find it. As she leads the investigation, she moves back into her parents’ house, still unable to tell them who she really is—or what the person whose messages she’s waiting for means to her. "Cows" is about why it’s easier to devote your life to chasing a runaway animal than to utter a single sentence that could heal.
