The Last Songs: Music in Serbia During the Breakup of Yugoslavia
Description
On 15 May, an exhibition "The Last Songs: Music in Serbia During the Breakup of Yugoslavia", by authors Лауры Эмери и Иваны Миладинович Прица, opens at Пароброде. 🎶
- The exhibition presents archival research, photographs, little-known documents and oral histories that tell the story of academic music in Serbia during the breakup of Yugoslavia.
- The focus is on the years preceding 1991, when the start of the Yugoslav wars abruptly cut off the country's cultural life.
- The authors trace the flourishing of the postwar musical avant-garde, the role of Yugoslav cultural figures in international exchange, and their sudden disappearance with the dissolution of the state.
- A separate section is devoted to artists who, even amid war and chaos, continued to work, using music as a form of resistance.
- The exhibition runs until 30 May. 🖼
