Hello, everyone! A new season and a new doc!

On the last Thursday in September we will screen the film Proposed Circumstances — winner of the 'Centaur' prize for Best Film in the National Documentary Competition at the Message to Man International Film Festival.

Proposed Circumstances is a documentary chronicle about how reality intrudes into the creative process and always takes the lead on stage, making any text contemporary.

Viktor Ryzhakov heads the Sovremennik Theatre after the death of Galina Volchek, who led the troupe for almost half a century and enjoyed absolute authority. For the theatre's first production, the new artistic director chooses a play about a family whose members have stopped understanding one another. They also struggle to find mutual understanding within their own "theatrical family."

The film was also awarded the film scholars' and critics' 'White Elephant' prize for Best Documentary.
