Description
Andrei Zvyagintsev’s new film, The Minotaur, will premiere in Belgrade on December 19
Post-Screening Discussion
After the screening, the director will discuss the film with the audience alongside film critic Anton Dolin.
Plot
The film is set in Russia in 2022. Gleb, a successful entrepreneur, faces a difficult choice when, during mobilization, the city administration demands that he provide 14 employees from his company to the military registration and enlistment office. The protagonist’s personal drama unfolds against the backdrop of the events unfolding in the country.
Quote from the Film Critic
Anton Dolin: “This will be the ‘Russian premiere’ of the film for those who disagree with the censorship and the designation of Andrei Zvyagintsev—perhaps the most significant Russian director of our time—as a ‘foreign agent.’ The idea is to screen the film in a city you can fly to from Russia without a visa. I understand how unimaginably expensive, far, and inconvenient it is to fly to another country just to see a movie! But at the very least, it’s possible. And The Minotaur (in my biased opinion) is definitely worth it.”
