Book Promotion: Archaeology of the Biblical World - the Most Significant Discoveries of 2022
Description
Book Promotion: "ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE BIBLICAL WORLD – the Most Significant Discoveries of 2022."
Series of Panels: RELIGION AND CULTURE IN HISTORY AND (POST)MODERNITY
Participants: Jovan Blagojević (author), Biblical Cultural Center; Sergej Beuk, Youth Center Belgrade, and Velibor Martinović, theologian and archaeologist. Moderation: Dušica Stojković.
Archaeology is becoming an increasingly powerful source for understanding ancient religions. Numerous discoveries not only confirm or refute the written sources on which religions are based, but also reveal phenomena and motives that are presented in a specific way in written sources, liturgical texts, hymns, and myths.
In this way, it is possible, and this is very significant, to more objectively recognize phenomena and, perhaps more importantly, to become acquainted with the ways in which these phenomena are shaped and motivated, as well as the transmission of the mentioned motives in different religions.
The author of the book "Archaeology of the Biblical World – the Most Significant Discoveries of 2022" provides a comprehensive overview of the most significant discoveries for the specified year, points out their importance, the way in which the mentioned discoveries affect the understanding of the biblical text, and opens a discussion (offering his understanding) about the difference between biblical archaeology and the archaeology of the biblical world.

ABOUT THE SERIES OF PANELS RELIGION AND CULTURE IN HISTORY AND (POST)MODERNITY
After several successful series of panels that the Youth Center Belgrade has realized in collaboration with the Biblical Cultural Center, during which we have dealt with the themes of religion, civilization, culture, and history from various angles and aspects of mutual intertwining, in 2025 we continue to consider these areas.
Through the panel series "Religion and Culture in History and (Post)Modernity," we raise broader questions: what does it mean to live in a time when culture and religion are questioned, when traditional values are re-examined, and new challenges demand fresh answers? Can we draw guidelines for the future from the experiences of the past, and in what way can historical ideas inspire solutions for contemporary dilemmas?
The modern world is characterized by the prefix post-, so we live in a post-Christian world, a post-(post)modern era, and perhaps even a post-cultural one. Both culture and religion face numerous, often shared challenges in a world where they have long been taken for granted, but which increasingly perceives them as superfluous or even foreign factors.
Can historical experience help us find a pattern in the postmodern world that will secure a place and possible influence for religion and culture?
