Sisters of Remembrance
Description
Exhibition "Sisters of Remembrance" about the women of Yugoslavia repressed during the Great Terror in the USSR
Exhibition description
The exhibition will present the findings of a memorial laboratory whose participants examine archival databases, photographs, newspaper publications, and diaries to reconstruct the biographies of the repressed and to reveal behind the dry lines of investigative files the living women — with their beliefs, hopes, interests, love, and work.
Exhibition highlights
One of the exhibition panels is dedicated to contemporary female political prisoners and shows how the fabricated narratives of current repressive persecutions in the Russian Federation repeat NKVD practices from almost a century ago. You can sign postcards for these female political prisoners and leave them to be sent in a special envelope directly at the stand.
Side events
On the sidelines of the exhibition there will be a memorial-collage workshop and a screening of the 1929 film "Erotikon" followed by a discussion on women's emancipation in Yugoslavia and the USSR.
Admission and fundraising
Admission is free, but the organizers ask, if possible, to leave donations to support the project.
