Silosi Beograd
We continue our small summer concert series that takes us far from the everyday and straight into the heart of music that connects people, languages and cultures.
On Thursday, July 9, Tamara Jokić, a singer, songwriter and composer whose voice links the Balkans, the Mediterranean and the wider world, comes to Silosi. After studying in Belgrade and furthering her education at the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, Tamara now works as a professor at the same institution, and with her music and voice builds bridges between different traditions and cultures.
She sings in more than ten languages, and her artistry draws equally from fado, Spanish folk songs and the rich musical heritage of the Balkans. In 2022 she released the album Transibérica for Sony Music Entertainment Portugal, while last year’s album Kuća, recorded in New York with an international ensemble of musicians, was devoted to exploring her own Balkan roots.
She has performed on stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kolarac Endowment, the National Theatre in Slovenia and Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela, and she comes to Silosi with music that belongs equally to the world and to home.
Joining Tamara will be the brilliant guitarist Dušan Popović Lipovac, a musician and composer known for his unique approach to the instrument and numerous artistic collaborations.
If you love music that travels through languages, continents and memories, see you on July 9.
