The Young Gods live in Belgrade
Description
The Young Gods' Premiere in Serbia, early bird tickets already sold out!
The cult Swiss band The Young Gods will be arriving in Serbia for the first time as part of their European tour 'Appear Disappear' to promote their eponymous album, released in June this year. These pioneers of industrial sound, known for their innovative use of samples, have had a strong influence on numerous bands and artists – from David Bowie, through Nine Inch Nails and Tool, to Faith No More – which speaks volumes about their exceptional importance. On the day of the concert, the price will be 3,300 dinars, while physical tickets are available at Katakombe Bar (Knez Miletina 45, Dorćol). Early bird tickets sold out in just a few days.
For over four decades, The Young Gods have been considered one of the most influential European bands in the field of industrial rock and experimental electronics. They were founded in 1985 in Geneva and from the very beginning, they stood out with their unconventional approach and strong avant-garde aesthetic. They took their name from the eponymous mini-album of the band Swans, which already hinted at the artistic direction they would take – combining intensity, noise, and atmosphere with constant innovation.
The trademark of The Young Gods is the use of the sampler as their main instrument, where they redefined the sound of rock music in the late eighties and early nineties. Their self-titled debut album from 1987 garnered great critical acclaim thanks to the blend of industrial rhythms, ambient layers, and the aggressive vocals of Franz Treichler. Their second album, 'L’Eau Rouge' (1989), further solidified their pioneering status and is often cited as one of the most significant European alternative releases of that decade.
During the nineties, the band turned to exploring even more diverse sonic landscapes, including experimental electronics, drone structures, and elements of trip-hop. In that period, they achieved significant international success and, as mentioned earlier, strongly influenced numerous major music acts. Despite their constant evolution, The Young Gods have maintained their distinctive dark, hypnotic, and energetic sound.
They are also known for their intense and visually striking concerts, in which improvisation and dynamics play a central role. Critics often describe them as a band that 'always stays one step ahead of their time,' while audiences appreciate them for their boldness and consistency in experimentation. Over the years, they have released a series of studio and live albums, each bringing a new approach and pushing the boundaries of their expression. Today, The Young Gods remain a symbol of innovation and unwavering artistic vision. Their work represents an important link between industrial sound, electronics, and contemporary experimental music, and the influence they have left behind remains strongly present throughout the music scene. They have released nine studio albums and four instrumental and cover albums.
In any case – it would be a real shame to miss this concert. See you on March 16 at Zappa Barca. Secure your tickets in time!
