Throughout history, people have tried to answer the question 'What would the best possible state look like?'
The lecture will take you on a quick tour through the history of utopian ideas:
- what the very first utopia was like and whether you'd want to live there
- how Thomas More's famous "Utopia" was structured
- why thinkers dreamed of a return to nature
- what the secret republic of scholars looked like
- how this relates to contemporary techno-utopianism
- how the utopian projects of the past influence our lives today
🗣 Lecture by: Aleksey Ryzhov — a philosopher by training, a teacher and an analyst by experience. He studied political science at the Faculty of Philosophy of MSU, and now turns academic ideas into lively public lectures.
