Description
KPGT
I, Boris Pilnyak, was born on October 11, 1894 in Mozhaisk, Russia. Out of my works, what I want to say now is much more important to me, and I sacrifice my old effort if it comes to my aid. It doesn't matter what I (and we) have done, what matters is what I (and we) will do, it's still early to assess our work, the collectivity of our work is necessary (and has been, and is, and will be), I emerged from Beloy and Bunin, many do many things better than me, and I feel entitled to take the best of them or what I can do better. It is not particularly important to me what will remain of me, but it has fallen to us to collectively create Russian literature, and that is a great duty. The 'goals' are still necessary as long as they are purposeful and effective. And day by day, it becomes clearer to me that my writing job is not at all aimed at fame, honors, a pleasant life; writing is not a joyful job, it is almost manual labor. I was shot on April 21, 1938 on the shooting range of Kommunarka in Moscow in the Soviet Union.
