All from personal experience (and the archive). Are these the best pizzerias? Definitely not. But we keep coming back to them. And when guests visit the city, pizza is usually what we eat with them too.
1. Tramontana, Grčkoškolska 7
Let's start with the classics. The name "Tramontana" rings out across Novi Sad, and sometimes reaches all the way to Belgrade. In 2024, the restaurant's chef (and yes, it really is a restaurant) made it into the top 100 at the TheBestPizza competition in Milan. So this is one of the most famous pizzerias not just in the city, but in the whole country!
That's why it's hardly surprising that on a weekend evening it's hard to get a table here. The local pride and the chef's signature recipe is a pizza with octopus carpaccio. In my opinion, it's not for everyone, but the menu has something for every taste. There's only one pizza size. It's enough for one confident person to eat their fill, or for a woman going out with friends — just right to bring a couple of slices home to her husband.
2. Brate Tutto, Radnička 2
Next... smaller! The creators of Tramontana recently opened a new place with a completely different format — a small shop selling slices of Roman-style pizza. What they came up with is something special: on one hand, low prices and a convenient size, on the other, plenty of interesting varieties and pizza that doesn't taste like fast food at all.
The place can get busy, but you're unlikely to wait more than ten minutes — there's always plenty of ready pizza on hand, and the slices you choose are simply reheated in the oven.
Our favorite is the Porcheta, with pork roulade on a paprika-based sauce — rich and very unusual!
There's also an app for delivery, but I really recommend going in and choosing in person.
3. Kuća Mala, Dunavska 17
Right in the center, just off the market where the beloved night bazaar takes place, hides a small place with a suspiciously familiar-sounding name. And the menu, as you might guess, is more Italian — pizza and pasta. We come back here for the pear pizza, "Bakina kruška," a very interesting combination. The signature "Kuća Mala" is also excellent, if you're not afraid when there's a lot of everything, just as the name suggests.
The place itself is in an archway, "in the courtyard," under the balconies. Pleasant and cozy. Great for both dinner and breakfast, but be careful — the portions are Serbian-sized!
4. Garden Pizza, Vase Stajića 27
Garden Pizza is more of an evening option. It gives the impression of a cozy family place where some mariachi band might start singing, but thankfully, there isn't one. They serve classic thin-crust pizza and much more. There's a vegetarian menu too.
