Trekking in Tara: Racha Monastery and the Sokolina Plateau

Day format:

Sokolina — a plateau with beautiful meadows, surrounded by fir, spruce and beech forests — the perfect place to take a deep breath 🌲
It is also sheltered by the terrain from prevailing winds, which is very important for winter walks. Elevation is about 1,000 m above sea level.

Along the way we'll visit Racha Monastery and talk about its history and the contemporary life of the monks.
We'll finish the day with dinner near the trek's end, right there in Tara.

On this route everything is great:

• beautiful views before, during, and after the trek;
• a short distance but with a respectable ascent so you will feel the effort and benefit, and there will most likely be snow;
• the Sokolarica viewpoint at the finish — one of the most beautiful, in our opinion, but not often visited or crowded;
• a local guide who knows every trail in Tara 🙂

↗️ Route: 7 km, ascent/descent around 650 meters.

Level and preparation:

The route is suitable for anyone in normal physical condition and does not require special training.
