About the band

The Zagreb band Psihomodo pop is one of the most famous and original rock bands that emerged from the former Yugoslav rock scene during the 1980s. Along with Partibrejkers and Električni orgazam from Belgrade, they greatly contributed to making classic, hard rock sound widely accepted across the then common state.

They formed in 1983 after the breakup of the punk rock band Klinska Pomora, from which the singer Davor Gobac comes, who joined the cult underground group Neron – after his arrival, it changed its name to Psihomodo pop. They built their musical expression on solid rock foundations and punk energy, and from the very beginning, they became known as a fierce and convincing concert band, clearly inspired by timeless greats like The Rolling Stones, Ramones, Iggy Pop…

This concept favored the unique stage persona of Davor Gobac, who pushed the previously known boundaries of frontman behavior here, and to this day he delights the audience with bold acrobatics and emotional dedication. At Psihomodo pop concerts, the audience can see and feel in the best way that rock and roll is not just music but also a way of life.

Due to their uncompromising approach to stage expression, Psihomodo pop had the status of an unrecognized demo band for five years, heroically breaking through with the support of the audience, without any published release. Finally, at the end of 1988, their first album, "Year of the Dragon," was released, which immediately promoted them to leading new groups on the then Yugoslav rock scene. The hit song "I Only Love Myself" was declared song of the year in numerous newspaper polls, and the debut release featured hits that have remained classics of domestic rock to this day: "Frida," "Ramona," "She's Not Here (Forever)," "When I Was 16"...

Throughout their rich career, they have released a total of twelve studio albums, three live albums, and three compilations. Their latest album "I Believe in Miracles" recently received the "New Record" award for 2024 from the "Croatian Discographic Association".

They are currently working on several new releases:

  1. Four "live" albums are in preparation
  2. A new studio album
  3. A documentary film directed by Radisav Jovanov – Gonza
  4. A monograph dedicated to the history of the band

Psihomodo pop is currently on a tour to celebrate 40 years of continuous operation, during which they will hold a major concert in Belgrade on November 23rd at the Dom omladine Beograda, as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of this cult cultural institution and true home of rock and roll.
