Description

New city tour 🎈

Belgrade is a layered city: ancient and at the same time bold. Here a medieval fortress sternly watches the confluence of the Sava and the Danube, royal residences sit beside monumental brutalism, and in the very heart of the city a living history pulses—one we will touch.

What to expect on the route:

  • ❤️ The heart of the Old Town. We’ll walk through Republic Square, drop by Terazije, and explore how, in the royal era, Belgrade did its utmost to become an elegant part of Europe. Of course, we’ll stop at the iconic Hotel "Moskva".
  • 👑 The royal and presidential quarter. We’ll view the Old and New Palaces from the outside and see the monument to Nicholas II — one of the few monuments to the emperor outside Russia.
  • 📖 Political and literary Belgrade. We’ll see the monumental building of the National Assembly and recall Ivo Andrić — Yugoslavia’s leading writer and a Nobel Prize laureate.
  • ⛪️ Traces of Russian emigration. We’ll visit the Russian Church of the Holy Trinity. Milan will tell how refugees after the revolution rebuilt their lives in the new homeland and what architectural and cultural imprint they left on Belgrade.

We’ll finish the walk at the Church of Saint Sava — one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world. We’ll go inside to see its incredible interior and its grand mosaics.

What you’ll learn:

  • ❓How Belgrade endlessly passed from hand to hand, was destroyed and rose from the ashes — and how that shaped its character today.
  • ❓Who Saint Sava was to the Serbian people and why the country’s main cathedral is dedicated to him.
  • ❓How Russian architects, military personnel, and artists reshaped Belgrade’s cultural life in the 1920s.
  • ❓What makes up the unique Serbian identity and how it differs from its Balkan neighbors.

Living history, unexpected urban details, and the real Balkans without the tourist gloss. Join us!
