Lecture by Yegor Korolev

We invite you to a lecture titled “The Budva We Lost” (Yegor Korolev)

We’ll travel back to the 20th century and search for traces of former empires—the Austro-Hungarian and Yugoslav—in modern-day Budva. Using old photographs, you’ll try to identify different parts of the city as it looks today.

You’ll learn:

• how the Montenegrins kept the people of Budva in fear
• how tourism began to develop in Budva
• how the people of Budva entertained themselves a hundred years ago
• how Budva survived the 1979 earthquake
• which unique hotels have survived to this day

Yegor Korolev, a Balkan researcher and author of the blog zakroma_zakoulki, will share his discoveries and itineraries.
