Nureyev: 65 Years Since the 'Leap to Freedom'
Description
Auditoria Belgrade
Nureyev. 65 Years Since the 'Leap to Freedom'
In June it will be 65 years since Rudolf Nureyev's famous "leap to freedom": in 1961, while on tour in Paris, the great dancer decided not to return to the USSR.
On 20 June Auditoria invites you to join a video screening of the revived ballet "Nureyev" — one of the largest and most talked-about choreographic events of recent years. Removed from the Bolshoi Theatre's repertoire in 2023, this production about the life and work of Rudolf Nureyev, staged by Kirill Serebrennikov and choreographer Yuri Posokhov, has been revived outside Russia for the first time. Today this large-scale production has been brought back by the Staatsballett Berlin on the stage of the Deutsche Oper.
After the dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev's death, his personal belongings were put up for auction. The plot revolves around the auction of Nureyev's personal items, through which the creators reconstruct a mosaic of his life — from the Soviet period to international fame. This is an opportunity to see on the big screen a monumental tribute to an artist who became a symbol of creative freedom.
