Artist talk and opening of the pop-up exhibition 'Flesh and Stone'

On 25 July we invite you to an artist talk and the opening of the pop-up exhibition 'Flesh and Stone' by artist Evgenia Efremova.

About the artist

Evgenia Efremova is a visual artist and curator from Moscow, living and working in Belgrade. She works with photography and performance, exploring themes of corporeality, movement, and the relationship between the body and space. In her practice she combines a documentary approach, performative methods, and somatic experience.

She graduated from the Academy of Documentary and Art Photography "Fotografika" and completed a master's degree in 'Curatorial Practices in Contemporary Art' (Garage x HSE). She has participated in exhibitions in Russia and abroad, including solo projects 'One-on-One' (Saint Petersburg, 2018) and 'Flesh and Stone' (Podgorica, 2025). She was co-curator of the project 'Museum of Artificial History' at the Darwin Museum (2021).

At the event Evgenia will talk about her artistic practice and curatorial projects, and will share what she is currently working on in Belgrade. During the event postcards and artist prints will also be available for purchase.

Flesh and Stone

'Flesh and Stone' is a photo project exploring the interaction between the body and Soviet architecture through somatic and performative practices. Working with performers in different cities, Evgenia investigates how space affects bodily sensations, a sense of belonging, and modes of social existence. Through photography the project examines the interconnection of body, architecture, and socio-political context, proposing to see space as a carrier of memory, norms, and constraints. The project is currently continuing in Belgrade, where the artist explores the architectural heritage of the former Yugoslavia.

Framed prints from the project will be available for purchase at the pop-up exhibition.
