"I won’t take that kind of book… What if the child learns something bad?" — familiar thoughts?

Familiar thoughts? Many parents look warily at books where children misbehave, argue with adults, or run away from home. They want to choose something "safe", about obedient children with whom nothing happens. But what does a child really need? And how can we awaken in them a genuine interest in reading?

At the meeting with philologist and educator Asya Shtein we will discuss

• how to help a child discover literature not "because they have to", but with genuine curiosity
• why children need books where the characters are not perfect
• which texts can be truly interesting for your child in particular
• whether stories where children break rules are really dangerous

This is not a lecture but an interactive master class: we will discuss, share doubts, and look for answers together. Asya Shtein will help you see children's reading through a child's eyes and understand what’s going on in their head!

Asya Shtein — philologist, educator, and co‑founder of the educational project Vaganty. Asya teaches children not to be afraid of difficult texts, to talk about them aloud, and to defend their point of view even if it differs from those around them. She is the mother of three grown children and the grandmother of three grandchildren.
