About the film

From his teenage years, Yefim filmed his family and watched through the camera as his parents' marriage fell apart. But one day he discovers a secret that had been kept from him for a long time — and the familiar story of the family begins to look very different.

This is the start of a very personal cinematic journey about love, lies, betrayal, family memory and guilt. Yefim is at once the director, the protagonist and a witness, and his home video archive becomes material for investigating his own past.

Awards

At the DocAviv festival in 2023, this very personal film received awards for Best Direction and Best Editing.

The continuation of Yefim's story

But Yefim's story doesn't end with the film. In 2021 he moved to the Serbian village of Gardinovci and on his very first day found an abandoned cinema from 1961. Films hadn't been shown there for almost 40 years, and Yefim decided to try to bring the place back to life. He is currently restoring the cinema with his own efforts so it can once again be a meeting place for villagers.

Donations

Proceeds from the screening will go toward restoring the cinema in Gardinovci. The current main goal is to raise funds for cinema equipment and to ensure its stable operation so that residents and visitors can regularly watch films, socialize and spend time there. Planned activities include training for young people, creative projects and larger cultural programs.
