The Stone Flower

Children's play "The Stone Flower"

Play description

The famous Russian (Ural) fairy tale about the curse of those who seek treasure and wealth has been told in many ways; nevertheless, what you can see at our Little Theatre "Duško Radović" is a contemporary adaptation — the play tells children that the most valuable things in the world are immaterial, above all love. Direction and scenography are by one of our leading directors, Nikita Milivojević, and the original dramatic text was written by Mila Mašović-Nikolić.

The play "The Stone Flower", inspired by the famous Russian fairy tale and based on the text by playwright Mila Mašović, is brought to the children's stage of the Little Theatre "Duško Radović" by Nikita Milivojević, one of our leading directors. This project is a novelty on Belgrade's children's stages because, instead of classical theatrical technique, it uses the contemporary form of storytelling. This type of performance demands high acting standards because the entire stage illusion is built through a complex combination of acting and puppet animation.

Six ensemble actors and two guest actors take part in the performance. The main characters are the craftsman Petruško, his young apprentice Danilo, the spoiled Princess and her Nanny, as well as the evil sorceress the Mountain Empress. What this play tells children is that the most valuable things in the world are immaterial, above all love.
