The Stone Flower

Children's play "The Stone Flower"

Play description

The famous Russian (Ural) fairy tale about the curse of those who search for treasure and wealth has been told many times. What you can see in our Little Theatre is a contemporary adaptation — the play tells children that the most valuable things in the world are immaterial, above all love. Direction and scenography are by one of our leading directors, Nikita Milivojević, and the original dramatic text was written by Mila Mašović-Nikolić.

The play "The Stone Flower", inspired by the famous Russian fairy tale and based on a text by playwright Mila Mašović-Nikolić, is brought to the children's stage of the Little Theatre "Duško Radović" by Nikita Milivojević, one of our leading directors. This project is a novelty on Belgrade's stages for children because, instead of classical theatre technique, it uses a modern form of "storytelling". This kind of production demands high acting goals because the entire stage illusion is created through a complex combination of acting and puppet animation.

Six ensemble actors and two guest actors take part in the performance. The main characters are master Petruško, his young apprentice Danilo, the spoiled Princess and her Nanny, as well as the evil witch Gorska carica. What this play tells children is that the most valuable things in the world are immaterial, and above all, love.
