42nd Belgrade Jazz Festival
Tomorrow, the 42nd Belgrade Jazz Festival kicks off at the Dom Omladine. The event will open with the world premiere of the “History Now” project, performed by Vladimir Nikolov’s nonet, followed by the evening’s headliner—blues-rock guitarist Ana Popović, whose concert marks the anniversary of her career. The American jazz scene will be represented at the festival by a collaborative project between the post-punk trio The Messthetics and saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, as well as performances by Rob Mazurek’s Chicago Underground Duo, trumpeter Marquis Hill, and violinist Arun Ramamurthy’s trio. European guests will include Tino Tracani’s Italian ensemble Panorchestra, the duo of Daniel García and Andreas Scherer, the quartet of João Paulo Esteves da Silva, as well as the young Polish groups Akimbo and JuMa. Serbian jazz will be represented at the festival by trumpeter Ivan Radivojević, who will present his new album, and baritone saxophonist Đorđe Kujundžić. Vidimo se.
