Master Class on Balkan Songs

Description

• This is an event for anyone who loves to sing and wants to learn about local musical traditions.
• In this workshop, we’ll learn songs from various Balkan peoples and explore the region’s distinctive polyphonic singing techniques, rhythms, and performance styles.
• We’ll also discuss the origins of the songs, their lyrics, and their cultural context.
• We’ll pay special attention to the sound of the group: we’ll learn to listen to one another, blend different voices into a single whole, and find joy in singing together.
• The workshop will be conducted in Russian and is open to everyone.
• No musical experience or special training is required.
