Self-Defense in the Workplace: How Tech Workers Can Protect Themselves

english in the comments

Being in IT is painful. On Thursday, October 22 we will meet at DC Loža to talk about why that is and what we can do about it.

At 7:00 PM full-stack developer and left-wing activist Vlad Maksimov will talk about the problems tech workers face at work. The talk won't be about vibe-coding, buggy frontend libraries and the hundreds of pages of documentation in Confluence written by programmers; it will be about normalized overwork, exclusion from decision-making in companies, mass layoffs and other charms of the industry. In the second half of the lecture we'll discuss how tech workers can improve their situation and who can help them.

After the talk, attendees will hear concrete case studies: industry worker Sergey, and programmer and left-wing activist Vlad Surin will tell about their labor disputes with employers in Serbia.
