“Such Is Life” in Belgrade: Stories About a New Life in Exile
On October 7, Belgrade will host a charity documentary reading featuring the best pieces from “Such Is Life” about a new life in exile. The evening will feature stories about people who left their home countries, felt lost, and lost their familiar bearings, but still decided to stay in their new country and learn to live anew. These are stories about vulnerability, strength, and the endlessly complex yet fascinating attempts to find stability and a place for oneself in a changed reality.
Reading Participants
- Yulia Graut — actress, graduate of the Gogol School and GITIS, formerly with the Polish Theater in Moscow.
- Marina Baboshina — actress, winner of the “Golden Mask” award; she has performed at the Omsk Drama Theater and the Krasnoyarsk Youth Theater.
Director
Sofia Kapilevich, known in particular for her work on the immersive production “Go and See” with members of the Shortparis group.
Format and Purpose
After the performance, there will be a discussion with the editorial team of “Takikh Del” about the protagonists of these stories, social journalism, and why it’s important today to tell the stories of people living in exile.
